The darkroom

Light, metal, and time

Digital sensors have no place here. We operate an 8x10 bellows camera, relying entirely on natural window light and the patience to wait for the correct exposure. The process demands absolute deliberation before the shutter opens.

A tangible history of light

Each plate retains the dust of the studio and the unpredictable nature of a slow emulsion. We do not erase these marks; they are the proof of human hands at work.

Wet-plate collodion

Glass plates are coated by hand in the darkroom, sensitized in a silver nitrate bath, and exposed while the chemicals are still wet. The resulting image holds a tangible history that cannot be replicated by any modern device.

Silver halide

Heavy cotton paper is exposed to light through the original glass plate and developed slowly in chemical baths. The tactile grain and raw deckled edges remain completely intact, ensuring no two pieces are identical.
